Living a Powerful and Blessed Life

God promises us a powerful and blessed life if we live in total faith of what He can do in our lives and when we just learn to trust Him completely.  To trust Him completely, means we need to take our hands off of the steering wheel and let God take the driver seat.  I believe there are 3 simple, yet important concepts that we need to follow to in order to put all our faith in God’s plan and trust Him, especially in difficult times:

1.  Follow HIS DIRECTION

2.  Allow HIS TIMING

3.  Do it HIS WAY

Let me go into some detail on these concepts so that you will see the blessings that can unfold as these are put into action.

1.  Following God’s Direction

Following God’s direction can be difficult if we haven’t learned to decipher between our own thoughts and God’s actual voice within us.  I still struggle with knowing when it’s God’s voice or when it’s my own.  Reading God’s word, meditation and prayer are most helpful when I am confused.  Through these actions I am learning to know the difference. Clarity comes when we step away from our emotions, settle our spirit down and pay attention to our inner guidance.  Inner guidance comes from wisdom, not emotions.  Wisdom considers the common good and outcome of all involved and the short and long-term consequences.  Whereas our emotions only dictate self-focused actions that feel right or justified in the current moment and doesn’t always consider the consequences to relationships.  I believe that is the difference between God’s voice and our own.  God’s direction applies to both the smallest moments in life and to the bigger picture and when we follow it, we can be sure to reap an outcome that will always be in our best interest.

2.  Allowing God’s Timing

Even when I become clear about God’s direction for me, I am subject to His perfect timing.  If I choose to force His direction in my own idea of timing or when I think things should happen, I only become frustrated and anxious.  The world is an impatient place that is in constant pursuit of immediate gratification and results, but God doesn’t work that way.  His wisdom and knowledge can be trusted to unfold His plan for us at the perfect time because He is all knowing and always has our best interests at heart.  Having heard and applied the phrase, “it’s all in the timing”, I know that waiting in wisdom needs to supersede my impatience.  I believe the reward and blessings are always greater when we follow God’s timing and not our own.  My own timing would have me miss out on the blessings that God has for me, either through my own hesitation or my own impatience on a matter.

3.  Doing it God’s Way

Many people think their way is the best way and quite possibly the only way.  However, God always presents to us the right way.  God’s guidance will ensure that our approach to any situation is not just for our own greatest good, but the greatest good of all.  He’s keenly aware of the outcomes that can result if we do things our way.  God may have directed me to confront someone and even give me the perfect timing in which to do so, but if I choose to just take things from there, then who knows what bigger mess my own words could create?  My own way could leave me feeling worse, could be hurtful to others and may have long term consequences I wasn’t aware of.  God’s approach is never anger based, resentment filled, selfish or spiteful.  His approach is always love based.  So, when we tune into doing things His way, we are guaranteed to approach situations from an angle of love instead of whatever negative emotions we may be harboring.

We can sure make a mess of our lives quickly and live in unnecessary torment when we take is upon ourselves to play “God”.  So, if you really want to experience the bountiful blessings and good plan that God has for you, then you will need to hand over the keys and let Him take the drivers seat.  This starts by getting to know Him on a personal level by studying, meditating and praying so that you can decipher between your own thoughts and His direction.  It’s about letting go of your impatience to control the timing and letting God’s wisdom show you His perfect timing.  And finally, it’s taking that last important step by surrendering our feelings, our stubbornness and our impulsive ways to give way to His loving approach – His perfect way.  This ensures no regrets and guarantees we will live a powerful and blessed life.

God bless you,

Sheri
